It is a visual representation of the power that the media wields and how it can be used to distort meaning through misrepresentation. Consumers of media are forced to believe what they are fed and, blinded by corporate motives and 'strong-arm' tactics of the media, the truths that the consumer believes in, as presented to them by the media, are often gross distortions of actual events and situations. The media, more often than not, fails when trying to 'tell the truth'.The Media Monster...An embodiment of media shortcomingsThe media monster...• Is two-faced in his dealing with the public and his representation of 'the truth'• Wears Glasses to help him find a story where there is none• Never Talks but Shouts from the Rooftops• Vainly attempts to uphold Values of 'Truth' and 'Integrity'• Is a Sensationalist, and thrives on Conjuring up Headlines by Exaggerating Facts• Is not Afraid to use 'Strong-arm' tactics where necessary to get a Story• Thinks he can bring about Justice because he has people's Lives Hanging in the Balance• Is Always Skating on Thin Ice, however• Is Always ready with a Censorship Sticker to slap on anything that may Offend those who Write his ChequesIf allowed to run loose, the Media Monster can cause havoc with the lives of innocent people who have been misrepresented.
